Trish Dent ~Shiatsu, Indian Head Massage, Myofascial Release
I have been interested in complementary therapies for many years, and attended workshops in healing and touch for health when I lived in London during the 1980s. Following a severe appendicitis and operation in the 90s, I came to realise that my life is too short to be doing something that I was not committed to. As I recuperated, I discovered Shiatsu and found the treatments so beneficial that I joined a Shiatsu training course. Three years later, in 1998, I qualified with the East Anglian School of Shiatsu. I have a teaching certificate in Shiatsu and also with City & Guilds. I attend workshops regularly, which have included Mike Webster’s Waveform series, Shiatsu and meditation with Sonia Moriceau, and Okido Yoga, both in England and Holland.
Shiatsu is a most relaxing treatment. This form of bodywork often brings about an incredible feeling of release both from physical and mental tension and pain. As a healing therapy, you may find Shiatsu helpful for a wide range of health problems. Clients have come to me and found success with ailments from asthma to back problems, headache, PMT, menopausal symptoms through to general stress, depression and other mental health issues. I believe that my clients are directly involved in their own healing process and may suggest certain stretches and exercises for specific problems or diet and other lifestyle changes to complement your treatment.
In 2000 I trained in Indian Head Massage, and more recently completed a course in Myofascial Release, a technique that works with the body’s innate desire to release tensions resulting from physical and/or emotional trauma that are held within the connective tissue.
I also teach the popular Shiatsu Stretch (Mind your Body) exercise class, both at the centre and at The Cut in Halesworth.
I am also currently involved in Shiatsu training and run healthy cooking workshops and demonstrations.
As well as practicing at The Harmony Centre, I have regular Shiatsu and massage clinics at Dunwich and can offer home visits to those unable to come to the centre.
